Nonverbal learning disorder evaluation.
Some students talk well before they can do anything else, and the strength hides the difficulty for years. Reading is fluent, vocabulary is wide, and the trouble sits everywhere language is not: in maths, in handwriting, in map-reading, in knowing what a face meant.
What the evaluation looks at
Verbal reasoning measured against visual and spatial reasoning, which is where the pattern shows. Alongside it: visual-motor integration, handwriting, executive function, mathematics, and reading comprehension set against decoding, since fluent reading and missed meaning often travel together here. Social communication is assessed directly rather than assumed.
Who it is for
The child whose teachers describe them as bright but disorganised, whose marks fall apart when the work turns spatial, and who reads every word on the page without catching the point of it. It is a common answer for students referred for autism or ADHD where neither quite fitted, and for able students whose difficulty was read as effort for a long time.
What you receive
A written report setting out the profile and what it means day to day, a feedback session in plain language, and recommendations aimed where the difficulty actually lands: organisation and planning, handwriting and keyboarding, the spatial side of mathematics, and the social and transitional demands of a school day. With your consent the report can go to the school.
