A capable student who is falling behind is telling you something specific. Testing turns a vague sense that school is harder than it should be into a named difference, and a named difference is what a school can actually build a plan around.
What the evaluation looks at
Reading, writing and mathematics measured against cognitive ability, along with phonological processing, processing speed and working memory. The point is to locate where the breakdown happens, not simply to record that it does.
Written to be used
Findings are set out so that a school team can act on them, with the eligibility questions an IEP or 504 meeting will ask answered directly. Documentation is also frequently required for accommodations on college entrance exams and in higher education.
What you receive
A written report, a feedback session, and recommendations for the classroom and for home. With your consent the report can be shared with the school.
